Conservation Restrictions Reduced Immediately
Due to the recent significant rainfall in the region and inflows into the Highland Lakes, the storage of Lake Buchanan and Lake Travis have exceeded 1.9 MAF (million-acre feet) and is approximately 94 percent full. The water supply projections from the Lower Colorado River Authority project that the combined storage will remain above 1.4 MAF for at least 4 months.
Conservation Stage Water Use Restrictions
Conservation Stage is the lowest level of water use restrictions and represents our community’s dedication to year-round conservation. Although the area reservoirs have been replenished, the district must stay committed to managing the community’s water supply. Saving water today will protect this vital shared resource for the future, especially given the Central Texas region regularly experiences droughts. Important Conservation Stage restrictions for residential and commercial customers include:
- Automatic and manually operated irrigations systems maintain restrictions of one day per week watering, with extended watering hours of watering allowed only before 10:00 am and after 7:00pm,
- Hose-end sprinklers and drip irrigation are limited to two days per week, and only before 10:00 a.m. and after 7:00 p.m.
- Customers can use the following irrigation activities without restrictions: athletic fields, hand-held hose watering, vegetable garden watering with soaker hose or drip, tree watering with automatic bubbler or a soaker hose in the drip-line.
- Restaurants may only serve water upon request.
- Patio misters at commercial properties, including restaurants and bars, may operate only between 4:00 p.m. and midnight.
- Commercial car washes can operate normally. Home car washing is permitted using a hose with a positive shut-off valve or a bucket.
